If you can't beat 'em, preempt 'em!

Um, doesn't he know it's the first night of Sweeps?

Unless this is all part of his War on Hollywood. If so, well played Mr. Bush. Well played.

Especially when you look at the start time for his little infomercial, er, uh, press conference: 8:30 p.m. Starting on the half hour, rather than the hour seems a little odd. Until you consider the regularly scheduled programming he'll be bumping. Again I say, well played.

But maybe his scheduling rationale is less nefarious than that. Maybe he's just a big Joey fan.

It'd be really cool if Bush did the Official Ted Turner Scheduling Trick and started the press conference at 5:35.

There was a press conference today? I would have watched if I had known, if only to make monkey jokes.

Or worse, Alex... he could've pulled an ABC and ended it at 9:02, thus pre-empting The Apprentice and C.S.I. too.

Apparently the networks played chicken with the President, and He blinked... sort of. Let's call this skirmish a tie: Bush 1, Hollywood 1.

Still, for one night, the nation (or at least the Eastern half) was safe from Will & Grace (not counting syndication).
